Confidentiality

The law strictly controls how we handle your information. Anyone who receives information about you has a legal duty to keep it confidential. You have a right to view your health records in most circumstances. Your health records are confidential between you and your health professional in most circumstances.

Your records are seen by GPs, Nurses, Health Visitors, Community Health Workers. Other NHS, practice, hospital and social services staff may have access to some of your records to help them in caring for you.

Should other organisations request access to your health records then your written permission will be sought before any information is passed on. The only exception is the law courts who can insist on reading your health records.

If you require sight of your records or to obtain a copy please contact the Practice Manager in writing. There may be a charge to cover costs.
